I purchased a handbag from Forever new, Mall of the North Polokwane about 3 months ago. The bag metal part became lose. I took it back to the store for a refund and was told it is not possible to get a refund without a till slip. I asked the manager to scan the barcode to check the price and date of purchase, but he told me that, scanning a barcode will only give them a copy of the slip and they need the original slip for refunds or replacements. He then took the bag in for repair. I wanted a refund or replacement and feel these could be done because the barcode of the bag would indicate how much the bag is worth. The consumer protection act no 8, pg 22 states that the supplier is obliged to refund, repair or replace defective goods and I want a refund or replacement, not repair.
