Refusal To Issue Legitimate Refund

I was given a Ryobi Drill as a birthday gift, I already had one so decided to get a refund from Makro, the person who gave me the gift handed me the proof of purchase slip and i went to Makro Woodmead. The Drill was in original box unopened and i had the till slip, they refused to pass me a credit, I did not even want cash I said they can credit my card but they refused and said they can only refund the original purchasor. I am now the legal owner of the item and I have the proof of purchase - how can they refuse, also their policy states full refunds within 14 days, all I got was a stuff you attitude. I asked for the manager and Mr Malegodi Makola attended, he was just as arrogant and also obviously does not know the Consumer Protection Act whereby I have a right to a full refund and it does not state that only the original purchaser can get the refund. So shoppers beware of this type of attitude from Makro. I will also report this to the Consumer Council
