When I returned 2 items that I bought a day before for a refund, the cashier refused to give me back my till slip. After processing the refund I was only given the summary slip to proof that the total amount was refunded to my card. I was not entitled to a detailed refund slip. Only Ackermans works like this. All other stores (e.g. Edgars) would cross off the item you are returning on the original slip with a reference to the credit note and hand you back your original slip. They would then issue you with a new slip showing details of the refund listing what was returned and the value returned. I find it against my consumer right to loose my original proof of purchase when I have a refund. These are basic accounting practices and as a consumer I have the right to proof of my transaction in original format without the risk of loosing it to a store in the case of a refund. If it is Ackermans' policy to keep an original proof of purchase in the case of a refund, then any further refunds on the same slip on another day is no longer possible, since you need the original slip to be able to do a refund. As consumer I'll only be able to do exchanges. This is wrong!
