MTN and sim card inactive

Customer for 9 years, been outside RSA for 5 months for work, lost sim card. Went to branch yesterday to replace, told it was done and may take 2-24 hours to activate. Still cannot make calls today. Called to 0831808, they said it had not been activated and logged a call to be urgently done. I asked how long this may be and was told that apparently urgent to MTN is up to another 24 hours!! Really MTN, how is it that I must pay for your incompetence with more PAYG for another day? As a long time customer who is already off one would think your strategy would be to try and get my number activated within the normally accepted concept of urgency ie far less than 24 hours. Instead your consultant is trained to sing the usual tune. Your customer retention strategy is dismal and shocking, but maybe you don't care about that since you have become too big for your corporate boots. I also am still not certain why it would take that long in any event to activate a sim card, and certainly not the second time around. You people need more competition
