BACKLOG IN ACTIVATING CLUB

I joined Club VIP online on 08 Sep 2013, and waited patiently to get some form of communication. After 2 weeks (20 Sep), I decided to call in and find out what was the delay. They then told me that it would be activated within 24 hours and that I could go into any store to collect my card.

I went into Kenilworth Centre, and when they called the call centre, they told me I have to wait another 48 hours, but gave me a card to hold onto. I then went into Canal Walk (22 Sep), and still they could not activate the card, as I was told there is currently a huge backlog in capturing, but that I should call directly today (23 Sep).

I just called, and was told that I again have to wait another 48 hours to activate the card. With that, I was kept on hold on the line twice, for a few minutes, on line, with no music or sounds of activity, not knowing if I was still on the line!

This is utterly ridiculous (not that I'm surprised, as service is generally poor with Edcon). Hence, I have cancelled the request for Club VIP (Ref: 230913014/GO) because if this is how long it takes to activate a card, then what using the actual benefits!
