Cannot upgrade before 3 years on my contract

I had upgraded my cell phone contract on 20 December 2011 and is told now that I cannot upgrade now, but only by the end of 2014. This is after 3 years! After many calls to call-centres with many different 'explanations' and stories, nobody is willing to take a step further to address our problem. We were told that it is because we had done in advance upgrades and that the in advance period (s) is added to the end of my contract period, but nobody can show us how we were informed about such terms / conditions / stipulations and nobody can tell us how the 'extra' contract period is calculated to get to the specific date next year. The advert says 'upgrade after 22 months and start with a new contract'. Every time I have upgraded I was told that it is possible due to my high volume usage of the phone. Now suddenly. without any proper explanation and reasoning, I can not upgrade, and I was told that I am loosing my guarantee on my phone after 24 months!
