Early upgrade of contract

Cell c invited me for a early upgrade of my handset contract (I have been with them for 7 years). I went to the store as the phone I wanted had arrived and I was about to upgrade, however, I filled in all the forms to which the consultant informed that I should please take note that because I am going to do an early upgrade (which they phoned me and said I can do) I will be liable to pay for two contracts (my current contract until the 24 month period expires and my new contract that I want to upgrade to)

I did not upgrade as this is the first time I have ever heard of something like this, non of the other cellphone providers has these conditions and the Cell C consultant even said he can't believe their new system and that its ridiculous. I have two options now, wait for the 24 month period to end and then upgrade or wait for the contact to end and then take my business to another provider and both of these options include a lot of admin just because Cell C decided they want to make more MONEY OUT OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. Wherever you go these days there is just no more service. VERY SAD
