New iPhone contract with non LTE Sim Card

I applied for my iPhone contract and I went to the MTN store in cavendish to collect my phone. Not only were the people extremely rude that worked there but there were about -25 people waiting and only two people assisting them. But besides that (which I'm already used to when it comes to MTN) I asked if my SIM card will be able to be used on the LTE network. I was assured it would take a while for the SIM card to be activated. So I waited and once the card was activated I saw that I had 3G reception. Not thinking anything further of it I continued to use my phone. I now found out that one needs a 128k SIM card which says LTE on it. Why was I given (and I had to pay R120) a 3G SIM card when I clearly asked if the SIM card supports LTE. I called the hotline and was reassured that I am using a 3G SIM card. I am using an iPhone 5 and obviously want to make use of the LTE service but I am definitely not willing to pay another R120 for the mistake that MTN made when is issuing my sim and phone.
