Vodacom
Refuses to fix manufacturer fault with phone

My Galaxy Nexus phone was sent to the Vodacom repairs Durban hub with a burnt USB port. This happened when I plugged in my phone to charge overnight. Then next morning it was not charged and the end of the charger cable and the USB port were burned and melted.

A Google search for "galaxy nexus burned usb" reveals many people reporting the same problem. Several of the people that sent their Galaxy Nexus phones in to their various service providers all report getting their phones fixed by the service provider without any problems.

I received an SMS from Vodacom at 4:35pm on the day it was received by them to say that my phone was being assessed. I then received another SMS a short time later at 5:05pm to say that my phone was being sent back. This means he took less than 30 min to assess my phone!

According to the technician it is caused by moisture damage which is completely untrue! He also states that the phone cannot be fixed and yet I can find simple howtos on the internet and the replacement part costs less than R100!!

Clearly the technician is lazy or incompetent. I spoke to Stacy Chetty and she simply refused to help me. Clearly Vodacom is defaulting on its obligations!
