Said phone was irreparable, another shop fixed it!

I took my Nokia 3120 to the Vodacom Shop in the mall in George, as I had originally got it on contract from them. I use it as my back up twin call phone. I had dropped it, and the battery would not charge nor would the screen come on, and as it was just before I transferred the data to my new phone, it was vitally important to get the info off it. The assistant at the counter took it through to the technicians in the back, after confirming it was out of warranty, and returned, saying it could not be fixed, it would not charge, and indicated a socket to me - I could not believe it, this phone charges with a small pin, and the socket she was pointing out was the usb port!

After I said they were using the wrong hole, she returned to the back and was away a bit longer. On her return she said they were unable to repair the phone, unable to charge it or get the screen working or retrieve any data. I asked if there was any way or anybody who could fix it and she repeated that it was irreparable.

As I was desperate for the data, I posted a note on the George FB page, and was referred to RT Cellular. Went in there 4.30 on a Friday afternoon, and it was working 45 mins later and still is!
