Good day,
I am from Trichardt and was in Durban for the weekend. On Saturday night I went to Gateway as I know that shops close at 9pm. At 8:50 I was outside the Mr Price Sport. The shop main entrance was closed, but one of the sliding doors was slightly ajar. I thus entered.
As I am checking for a gift for my fiance, I can hear staff speaking to each other in Zulu about how come I was in the shop. They reffered to me in a derogatory, and offensive manner. I speak Zulu so I understood the entire conversation.
Thereafter a staff member approaches me and asks me to hurry up as the cashiers want to cash up. Note that it was still before 9. Under a minute later a second staff member asks to finish up my shopping and leave as they want to close.
Therafter at the cashiers, I am made to wait as they count the cash from the till, and only when they were done, did they attend to me.
I have a few questions:
1. Why was the store entrance closed before 9?
2. Why did I have to endure staff speaking about me in that manner?
3. Why was I asked to leave when I was in the store before 9? Note that is a direct contravention of the CPA.
4. Why did the cashiers make me wait?
