07/01/2013 my daugther (12) got out of the swimming pool, went to the bathroom, where she slipped and hit her head against the entrance step of the shower. She was rushed to the Emergency Rooms at Dalview Clinic, as she was vomiting and very confused. They refused treatment as we are new members on Fedhealth and have a 3 month waiting period. I tried phoning for authorization but it to no avail, and different arrangements had to be made for the payment. Treatment was then only commenced on her almost 2 hours after she hit her head. She was then admitted overnight for neuro observations with a diagnosis of Concussion made by the treating Dr. I contacted the call centre again on the 08/01/2013 to try and obtain authorization and was told that the clinical team will contact the hospital for information. I received a email from??? stating that my request has been referred to the fund manager for consideration as we have a 3 month waiting period. Now 3 days later and after numerous phone calls to the call centre, authorization has been declined with the reason "scheme declined the request". How can a EMERGENCY and this being a MINOR as well, not be covered???
