I originally had a data contract with MTN, which I assumed was paid upfront. MTN then sent statements to an old email address that had been closed for some time. Despite the fact that MTN would have received return messages indicating that the email no longer existed, they continued sending the statements there. MTN then, without consulting me once, handed the account to their collection agents, NuDebt, even though I have always had an MTN number, making it very easy for MTN to contact me.
I initially started paying the monthly amount I would have paid to MTN for the initial contract. However, I realized that the balance was not reducing. I emailed NuDebt on several occasions requesting a detailed statement. I finally received a statement from NuDebt, only to discover a number of incorrect and apparently fraudulent invoices, including eight charges for sending emails to a defunct email address. What person in their right mind would send eight emails after receiving messages stating that the email does not exist?
I have sent several emails to NuDebt, highlighting that I do not owe any outstanding amounts and that they should reverse all the fraudulent charges, all copied to MTN Legal. However, I am still being harassed with messages from NuDebt. How can I get them and MTN to accede to my requests? Is there anyone else being harassed by NuDebt?
