Fedhealth Medical Scheme
Beware of the Maxima Entry zone hospital plan

I wanted to join Fedhealth medical scheme from the 1st January 2013 on the Maxima Entry zone hospital plan. After being accepted, I noticed that I was subject to a 3 month general waiting period and it was also stipulated that Fedhealth will not pay any claim during the waiting period. As a result I enquired from them whether that also apply to emergency hospitalization but despite various e mails to them no reply was forthcoming. I was eventually contacted today by management with the shocking information that in the event of emergency hospitalization on this hospital plan, the member or his dependents will be stabilized in a private hospital and then
transferred to a state hospital. Upon pointing it out to them that there is no reference to that whatsoever on their application or in their brochures and that they are compelled to notify prospective new members about this very
important aspect, the response simply was that there is not space for that on the application form. Needless to say that I decided to stay with my medical aid.
