I am unhappy to have paid the additional excess of R300-00 which has been charged against me for my claim lodged on the 4th of March 2013 and wish to dispute the amount and request that you escalate this issue with management.
My contract's date of inception is 2nd of January 2013, I placed my claim on the 4th of March 2013 which is therefore no longer within the 60 day excess period. As clearly stated in my insurance policy (Page 9, Section 5.5: Excesses Payable): only the date which I placed the claim is relevant when applying excess and not the date of loss as stated by Finrite. At no time has Finrite communicated to me - and at no point have I agreed - that the date of loss is used in place of the date of Claim when calculating this excess. I therefore request that Finrite refund R300-00 into my account.
Failing which, I will escalate this further via the Ombudsman and Small Claims Court.
