First National Bank
FNB ATM destroyed my foreign card!

On Saturday, 28 September 2013, at about 12:50pm I used an FNB ATM in Cape Gate Shopping Mall in Cape Town. I withdrew money from my Korean bank account using my Korean card. It has a limit of how much I can withdraw at one time, so I usually have to make a few transactions to get the amount that I need. I withdrew money four times, but when I reinserted my card the fifth time, it got swallowed by the ATM. At the time that my card was swallowed, the ATMs were being serviced.

I have never had any problems before with making numerous withdrawals and had not reached my daily limit yet. The bank manager told me that it is FNB policy to destroy swallowed cards, which she did.

I am absolutely livid at FNB for having put me in this situation. Other banks do not have such an illogical policy. Do you have any idea of how difficult it is to get a new card from my bank in Korea because I am in South Africa? Is this policy really logical? I needed that money today. What if it had been my only source of money? I don't know how long I have to wait now to get a new card.

There are cameras at all ATMs, and my name is on my card. It is not hard to prove it's mine. No-one else was claiming it
