On Kulula planes

I landed with flight MN124 on Friday evening (30 Aug.) There was turbulence, and an eventful landing, but we disembarked safely close to the baggage collection area. As soon as I was down the escalator I realised that I had left my Kindle in the seat pocket. I ran up the stairs, but security said I was not allowed back on the plane, and had to go to the Kulula baggage office. Two minutes later I was there, and a friendly assistant phoned the plane.

Now comes the strange part. Telling the person that they should please go to 17A for my Kindle, he was told by the flight attendant that it is not necessary, because he has just been there when a lady went to look for her cell phone, and that there is nothing in row 17. Eventually the flight attendant was persuaded to go and have another look. But, of course he found nothing. I asked the person helping me if he trusts the attendant. He replied cautiously that he wouldn't say that, but that it would be difficult to prove anything.

The reason for my posting this, is because I had dinner last night with a fellow lecturer from Unisa. I wish I can say that I was surprised when he told how he also recently lost his Kindle on a Kulula flight.
