My wife received a sms from MTN informing her that she had exceeded her credit limit today. On enquiring with the Call Centre, we were informed that she was been billed R7 per day for subscription services from a company called OPERA TELECOMS. We have never ever subscribed to ANY subscription company. I have tried contacting this company, but the number provided does not exist. I have sent an email and awaiting a response. My grouse is the following:
1. MTN has received many complaints from customers about this company (I was informed of this by the Call Centre agent). Why does MTN not block these subscription services until PROOF is provided that the customer has subscribed!!
2. MTN, as MY service provider should provide support to resolving these queries- instead of us been given the run around by these dubious companies.
I request that all monies that were debited from the account be refunded by MTN- request this back from Opera Telecoms until they can provide proof that we subscribed. I have noticed that MTN is responding with a standard reply that the customers need to email Opera Telekoms themselves. There are currently 8 complaints on Hellopeter as of today!!!
