Virgin Mobile South Africa
Trying to upgrade current contract

I am not impressed being told that if I want to upgrade my current contract I have to pay an extra R1048 to buy back my old phone. I have given Virgin Mobile 7 years of being a customer (and my husband too), I agree to add an extra 24months to my current contract, I am prepared to spend more, but obviously that doesn't count.
And on top of that, their webpage says that to upgrade a on-going contract, you can just pay an additional R100 administration fee, no mention of pay for your old phone. Then, I am told by a very friendly customer service advisor that my phone still belongs to Virgin Mobile, to what I say, "no problem, since you give me a new phone, you can have my old phone back as it is yours anyway". And the answer is "No, we don't want it, you have to pay to keep it". Well, I am sorry, but it is not right. And it certainly doesn't belong to the Current Customer Act Regulations which dictates what's legal or not. It obviously means that Virgin Mobile doesn't really try to keep its current customers.
