I was approached by Virgin Mobile in February offering an early upgrade & was told that Virgin will waive the "early upgrade" fee (basically making me understand that they would charge me nothing extra) & they offered me some or other Samsung. I then told the gentleman that I was shopping around to see what I could get & I would contact them shortly to advise them. That weekend, I found the phone I wanted & phoned Virgin to ask about the phone. At this point NO ONE mentioned anything further about the fact that I need to "pay in" any additional amount. I find Virgin's service pathetic and have had nothing but uphill from them since I started the process of upgrading. Today when I enquired as to why my "Est account" balance was R 421.08, I was told by Kensani "it is because my January debit order did not go through". (WHAT??!!!) After trying for almost 45 min, I finally got through to collections who then informed me that it has to do with next month's billing PLUS R122 for the handset because I upgraded early. I will NEVER recommend Virgin Mobile to anybody as they do not "think customer". The day that I am no longer a customer, cannot come soon enough!
