I was the victim of a simm swop by someone pretending to be from cell c. This enabled to money by EFT from my bank account, using the security code send to your cell number.
Directly after the phone conversation with the simm swop, I phoned Cell C call centre and relayed to them what happened - possible simm swop. The lady checked my number and all was still OK. She confirmed nobody from Cell C contacted me. I requested her to do something to prevent a possible simm swop of my number, but she told me that there is nothing they can do and I must just wait to see what happens. Later that evening money was out of my account.
Two weeks later when I swopped my cell number back, they put a note against my number on their system, stating that no simm swop must be done on this number without the owner's consent.
Why was this not done when I requested it? Because of their incompetence, I hold Cell C responsible for this!
This happened more than 13 months ago and I just get no feedback from Cell C investigator Marinus Giani after various phone calls and e-mails.
