Since about 3 weeks ago, there's been a problem with my MTN tower (Clearwater/Struben's Valley). Internet access is affected.
I've had to deal with the rudest and most disinterested people right from the 808 (customer "care"), 1555 (data) to the 083 900 1212 (network) centres. I'm not giving detail because it is a general trend. The attitude is that they are doing you a favour just by answering the call, but don't expect more. Previous experiences with 808 call centre were the same.
I've been unable to find out why it's taking so long to fix this tower and when it will be fixed. Every single time I phone I hear "they're working on it". THERE ARE NO ESCALATION PROCEDURES FOR CUSTOMERS AND NETWORK'S CALL CENTRE HAS NO INFO ON NETWORK ISSUES.
Connection speed has been inconsistent. My modem often connects with EDGE. But even when it doesn't, the speed doesn't go much higher than a few kbps. I've taken screenshots when I'm accessing sites or downloading files where it sometimes sits on 0 kbps! Once in a while, it drops connection.
This has not happened before the dreadful 3 weeks started, in fact I was extremely pleased with MTN after working on "Vodadrop" for many years.
