We bought a vehicle from Hyundai Pinetown in Durban, South Africa. The vehicle is still under warranty; it's been 11 weeks now. We are on finance with it. It has been troublesome from the day of purchase. We have been in and out of Hyundai with no joy whatsoever. We tried to get it replaced or have them take it back and give us another, but they can't do that. We are losing workdays with no pay because the vehicle is defective. I don't understand how they can sell a vehicle like this.
We ended up taking it to a private mechanic who said he could sort out the problem at a cost of approximately R6,000. Are we eligible for reimbursement for the repairs? Can they just take this non-roadworthy vehicle back and sort it out or trade it for another? Please bear in mind we need a vehicle to move around. We would greatly appreciate your feedback soon.
