I placed an order for a phone & a SIM card via the Vodacom Online Store to be delivered to a friend of mine to her address with her email address - when I went to checkout both items were displayed & when I selected Pay - only the 99c SIM card appeared with a ridiculous R130 delivery fee attached. Transaction completed! So I went back in & ordered the phone for R4769 & submitted Pay only to find no delivery charges attached for the phone. However, what I did not notice was the name field had defaulted back to my name not my friends name, for whom the phone was purchased. So 2 days later the SIM card is delivered to my friend but not the phone. When I queried it Vodacom tell me they cannot have a 3rd party accept a phone. I explained my story to them and they said they would look into it further. Next day another phone call & explanation all over again only to be told they'd have to cancel the order & my friend would have to complete the order again to have it delivered to her!? What is the point of doing that as I am paying for the phone with my card - cancel the transaction only to run another one for exactly the same amount? Just change the name of the recipient surely?
