Contract upgrade

On the 3rd of October 2013 I went to Vodacom to ugrade and renew my contract. previously I had a data contract receiving 175MB for R129.00 (what a rip off). So I decided to get a Huawei router with 2GB of data for R150.00p/m. Much better deal. I was going to use this for Xbox updates and online gaming, which i did. Last week Thursday I could not connect to the internet, so I thought I must have used up all of my data. So I log in to my account on the Vodacom website and proceeded to fall of my chair. Because what I saw was that my bill so far was R1937.19. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? They must have made a mistake on my upgrade, right? So I go to customer care at Vodacom World and they tell me that the contract only kicks in the following month. This was NOT communicated to me. Obviously I would not have done so many GTA V upgrades if I knew this. The guys at Vodacom World told me there is nothing they can do but I think this is extremely unfair. I signed the contract on the 3rd of October, not the 1st of November. That is when the contract should come into affect. Otherwise seeing as it is still October I want to cancel the contract.
