On 31 July I went to MTN Hayfields. I had a Vodacom contract and number which I wanted ported to a new MTN contract. I placed the order. A week went by with no phone and no contract. On 7 August I (8 days later) I was contacted to say that there was still a delay. I requested a change in the handset. I was advised that this would mean a slight delay in approval as the order for the previous handset would be reversed. Another week has passed and no news from MTN. Today I went to MTN store again. Once again it turns out that there is a complication with porting and my phone/contract is not ready. I run a business from my phone, and have had no contact for 16 days. I have the impression that the store staff are helpful and competent, but there is utter incompetence and disregard for customers somewhere else in MTN. Will this matter ever be resolved? Is this the general quality of service offered by MTN?
