Dear Sir/Maiden,
I use MTN's Uncapped Lite service with added voice/SMS facilities in my iPhone 4, since November 2012.
In approximately the last three months, I have experienced Internet connectivity outages whereby the phone will state that it is connected (i.e. the 3G characters appear next to the signal strength bars) but no Internet service is available. This can happen at random, during any time of day, and I have to restart the phone for service to resume.
This does not occur with a Cell C SIM card that I also have.
I took my SIM card into MTN's Menlyn Retail Park branch and asked the staff if they could test the card. They declined to do so and gave me the following reasons for the connectivity issues:
1. Cellphones "expire" after two years (mine is three years old now).
2. Apple phones do not work properly.
3. MTN's network is unreliable.
4. MTN does not support smartphones in Queenswood, Hatfield, or Waterkloof.
These reasons were given to me in one conversation.
May I please request advice on what to do about the connectivity problem?
Yours faithfully.
