I enquired for a new cellphone contract online and MTN consultant phoned me to process the contract. When i spoke to the consultant, she said it is possible for them to convert my current prepaid number to a contract when opening a new contract. I opted for this because I use my current number for cellphone banking and other accounts, I DO NOT WISH TO START OVER WITH A NEW NUMBER. The phone was delivered to me 3 days later, but the sim card was not RICA'd. I phoned the 173 call centre numerous times, having to hold for a long period of time and still not getting much help. I went to an MTN shop and they RICA'd the sim for me but they then said they cannot change the number to my prepaid number. Why was I told this could be done for me in the first place? I am, busy trying to call the Head Office number I was told to call if I have a problem, and nobody picks up! I am still able to cancel this contract and I shall do that if this isn't rectified today.
