Cancel upgrade

I when for an upgrade, on Saturday, new contract to start 1/6/2013, i went back to the store today, saying i dont want to upgrade anymore, they said, i cant do that.
But Consumer Protection Act i should have cooling off period before the contact even started, please help. They want me to buy out the contact even before it started. Please help.
