On Sat, 20th April 2013, an account was opened at the Festival Mall branch with my fiance's ID book. The camera footage and the picture on the ID clearly do not match, not to mention the signature! The signature is vastly different to the surname on the ID book. However, this was processed and R8, 500 purchases were made. The purchases were then exchanged at Lakeside Mall on the same day. My fiance has a sworn affidavit that he did not open this account, and in fact has three witnesses to vouch for his whereabouts of Saturday. Edgars refuse to assist on this matter and the Branch Manager Mary is very discriminatory towards my fiance and says the onus is on him to settle the account and "it is not her problem". This is a clear case of negligence on the part of the ill-trained staff member and the National Consumber Act has not even been considered in their dealings with my fiance. I urge Edgars to contact me urgently before I am forced to take matters further.
