I am writing out of complete frustration and disappointment regarding a television I purchased from Makro Woodmead.
I recently bought a 75-inch LG TV for R13,000. This was a major purchase for me as it took me two full years of saving to afford it. At no point during the sale did the salesperson advise me about taking additional insurance or protection for the television. As a customer, I reasonably assumed that such a large purchase would at least be covered by some form of warranty protection.
Because I did not have transportation on the day of purchase, I requested that Makro keep the TV overnight while I arranged transport. I returned the following day to collect it.
Yesterday, after mounting the TV on the wall, we discovered that the screen appears to be broken, showing ink-like damage. I immediately went back to Makro Woodmead to report the issue, only to be told that because the screen is broken and shows ink damage, there is absolutely nothing they can do and I would essentially need to buy another TV.
This response is extremely unfair and devastating. I have just spent R13,000 on a television that I have barely had in my possession, and I am now left with a damaged product and no assistance.
I am asking Makro to please investigate this matter and assist with a fair resolution. As a loyal customer, I cannot accept that a television that cost so much money becomes my loss within days, especially when it took me two years to save for it.
I am respectfully requesting that Makro intervene and assist with a replacement, repair, or meaningful resolution.
I hope Makro will take this complaint seriously and assist a customer who simply wants a fair outcome.
