On the 3rd of October I went into edgars gateway to pay my acc as I always do. On the day I opted to pay via my cheque card. As the payment was going through the system froze and no form of payment documentation had printed. I was then told by the staff member responsible that if the money went through and does nt reverse the acc would be fine. I then checked my phone to see that R200 was debited from my account. Not thinking much of this at the time, until I received an sms from edcon saying that if I did not make payment there would be consequences. So I called the edcon helpline and was told that I had to go back to gateway edgars, but not to worry this would not have a negative effect on my credit history. I was to learn later that day that the car finance I applied for earlier in the week had been declined for this reason as I had been listed in the ITC as a bad payer over the period of two weeks. I stormed into gateway edgars only to wait 15 mins as the only person in the acc enquiries line. And when I got to person at the counter, I found that she had no idea how to do her job. After I had spoken to the credit manager for 2 and a half hours, with the problem nt resolved.
