I had applied for a passport on 23/12/2013 and it was delayed. being given a timeframe of 3/4 weeks, i did not apply for a temp as this would have made my departure date. the delay however put undue pressure and came by surprise as 1 communication stated that the application was being processed and another said it was not even received [Gauteng]. I could not get in touch with the office of application [Umgeni Rd] and panicked. The website provided details of Ms Shandu who i then called. She did not hesitate to take my call [being the Provincial Manager] and escalate the matter. the department acknowledged the delay on their side and expedited my application. Today i am happy to report that the passport has been received. I am impressed with the turnaround time and the human element these individuals have imparted. Its nice to see service improvement at a Government dept and moreso, quality service. Thank you for changing the mind of this South African! Shalini Baijnath
