I would like to extend sincere congratulations to the Department of Home Affairs in Wynberg Cape Town for a professionally run operation that is fast becoming a credit to the government. It is seldom that a national government department performs well, and even rarer when the service borders on excellence. Wynberg Home Affairs is in a league of its own. I have had occasion to apply for an ID and passport about eight years ago and the experience very nearly killed me... it was abysmal. I was dreading applying for my son's passport and ID about four years ago and the change was unbelievable. Then I had to do it all over again last year and incredibly their performance had improved yet again. About two weeks ago my wife had my daughter's passport renewed and once again they shone. Well done Wynberg and the Department for allowing your people to shine. Perhaps other government departments can learn from your outstanding efforts. You make me proud to be a South African and when I see this kind of progress my African optimism grows and grows.
