Poor Service Delivery

Yesterday (10/7/2013) I went to Home Affairs in Centurion to renew my SA Passport. When I got there at 12h15 there wasn't really a queue. Of the 8 counters only one was doing renewals / new applications etc & one was doing collections. At any given time only two people were working. Eventually when I left nearly 2 hours later the queues were nearly out the door & all seating was full with people also standing.
There were a few staff behind the counters chatting but no much work being done. You would think with the volume of people that go through your doors on a daily basis that the department would be more efficient in trying to get the job done.
Everyone was more interested in going on lunch & disappearing into the back office where the counters are than assisting the numerous people filling up your waiting area.
Really disappointing experience.
