Department of Home Affairs
What has changed at Home Affairs?

I felt that I wanted to provide you with this feedback as I had an extremely unpleasant visit to Home Affairs offices in Randburg. On the morning of 25 February, I took my 83 year old mother to renew her SA passport. Arriving in the office for passport renewals, there were a number of puzzled people all standing in a queue to see a single person in a small office. Besides the staff at the counters, there was nobody else to guide customers or to advise what needed to be done. After standing in the queue for about 15 minutes, a gentleman walked out of the office with a batch of applications and announced to everyone that they were to complete the application, register it at the counter and then return to the office for fingerprinting.

I duly completed the forms and waited my turn for the counter. At the counter I greeted the lady to just be looked at without a word. She proceeded to glance at the paperwork and then threw it down in front of me and told me that I had left some information out. She was extremely rude, abrupt and refused to give me her name or to call the Manager. I do not accept that this is any form of Customer Service.
