I cancelled my Vitality in the last week of August effective 31 August 2013. I received confirmation of the cancellation and an email stating that I will not receive benefits for the month of August. Beginning September my premium was deducted, I contacted Vitality and was told my premiums are collected in arrears so the premium was for the month of August. This seemed fair to me but how can I possibly not receive the benefits for August if premiums are collected for August? I pay R 155 a month but receive over R 100 back in the healthy food benefit every month. I queried this and was told no refund will be done as my August benefit pays out 3 September which is after the cancellation date. But Discovery has no problem collecting my premium 2 September? Beginning October, another premium is deducted WITHOUT authority to do so. I called in and was told by Shiluva Malongo that the deduction was for my August premiums... REALLY??? So Discovery has deducted twice for my August premiums and have no problem deducting a whole month later for the premiums but will not pay the benefits 3 days after cancellation for benefits I am entitled to as I have paid twice??
