During December 2012 I hired a vehicle from tempest car hire. I then paid an additional amount that was necessary for cross border transfer with their vehicle. At the return of the rented car Tempest car hire then deducted an extra amount (not quoted for) from my credit card without my knowledge. When I found this out they had then blamed it on me stating that I had not paid the correct quoted amount. This is UNTRUE. I have also found out that they have miss placed the additional fee I paid for the cross border transfer which was why, according to them, I came short.
Tempest has replied to my query with what I can only describe as a bureaucratic attitude. They have stated that they were "within their rights" to deduct an additional amount of money by accessing my credit card without letting me know first and that they will only give back the amount that was miss placed by their agents once I provide proof.
They have at this time stopped looking for the miss placed amount of money (that was intended for cross border transfer) and are leaving it up to me to sort out.
No apology has been made by tempest and all I have gotten from their regional manager is excuses, excuses, excuses..
