TEMPEST CAR HIRE TO AVOID REVERSAL

A rental car was delivered by Tempest Car Hire to my office on June 23rd after my own vehicle broke down. The delivery person was rude and incompetent. To add insult to injury instead of the usual R1200.00 fuel deposit, Tempest Care Hire took the entire R 1200.00 off my credit card on the same day!! When I discovered this, I contacted my travel agent and advised I would report it to Std Card. Tempest's manager for Gauteng called two days later to apologise and advise that the company would refund the full R1200.00 and I would not be charged for the delivery/collection of the vehicle (about R480.00) or for the fuel used (about R198.00). He asked that I do not get bank to reverse. Why not? Because Tempest Care Hire actually refunded me R 503.30!! So much for customer goodwill. First I deal with an insolent, incompetent person. Then waste my time and my travel agent's time trying to get my money back. Then I get promised a full refund as a gesture. Does Tempest Car Hire realise what damage a single dissatisfied customer can do to its brand?
