THE MISERY OF DEBIT CARD PAYMENTS – IT DEPARTEMENT

Once I can excuse... but twice! I pay with my debit card (enter pin, it's approved, receive my sms) and then nothing. The stores are not paid i.e. no communication was generated to inform the till that payment has been made. The shops give me two options
1. Leave the merchandise and walk out.
2. Pay again, take merchandise and wait 10 days for my money to be returned to me.
The shops claim the money is still in my account. Printout of my account clearly shows the money was paid!
In all fairness to the 1st store I saw their transaction printout for the till and my 1st payment was not on the log! Bank blames the store. Both agree that the computer will sort the problem out. (still waiting for 2nd)
What happened to my money? Who earns the daily interest on it from the time that it leaves my account
until such time that it is credited back to my account. Why do I have to pay the transaction fees for these computer glitches? Someone is scoring big time by borrowing money from us the clients for a couple of days. I fail to see why IT dept cannot pickup that the credit to the store was either not generated, sent to, or received by the store. This loophole needs urgent attention!
