Misleading Information from Absa Cost me R1900!!!

While in the process of an Atm withdrawal on Saturday, the 5th of January after 9pm my bank card was swallowed by the Atm and it looked as if the Atm was malfunctioning or switching off. So after waiting for a while I decided to call a metre cab and head home as I did not have my cellphone on me at the time and it was quite late. As soon as I reached home I found Absa's call centre number online and called them to report what had happended to my card. I was told that the card had been cancelled. On Monday I went into the bank and was told that R1900 was withdrawn out of my account on the 5th of January AFTER my card was swallowed by the ATM. So I asked the consultant if I should open up a case of and she insisted that I should wait for the OPERATIONS dept. to investigate. Three weeks later I received a letter from the Investigator Miss C Mulaudzi, stating that there is nothing ABSA can do and I should have opened up a case of!!! AND to make matters worse, I can no longer do that as the 14 day time frame to report this case to the Police has elapsed!!! Not Only was R1900 of my money, Thanks to Incompetence on ABSA's side I cannot even recover my loss
