Un authorized removal of money

I lost my job and I notified the service provider to stop the debit orders as there would be no funds in my account.
I put a stop order on my account but the service provider changes the amount and took the money out of my account again. This went on for three months.
I now have an over draft of of R 1750 on an account that has no over draft.
the bank tells me I am liable. The service provider tells me I did not notify them.
