Due to the bank account number being recycled by Standard Bank the previous owner of the account gave the account number for payment of her debts. We have been to the bank to query the debit orders on the account, starting in November 2013 where the first query was lodged but nothing has been done to correct the situation.
We have been back to the bank at least 6 times to try and sort it out but we have been given no answers. We cannot even put a stop order on the debit orders as the company keeps on changing the amounts and dates. Today a phone call was received asking why the account was in overdraft as the debit orders keep on going through and returned as there are no funds in the account. We have even attempted to ask the company putting the debit orders through to stop and refund the money but they do not reply to any emails. The account holder is a student who needs to apply for a student loan again this year and the funds taken from the account are urgently needed for textbooks and living expenses.
