On 8 Dec. 2013. We went for a lunch ride, with friends to celebrate Husbands birthday. On our way to lunch, the Motorcycle cut out and we saw smoke coming from under the seat, we immediately stopped. Hubby quickly took the cover off and saw the wires were burning, he ripped the burning wire off and stopped the fire. We then called a towing service to collect our motorcycle. Please note we are elderly motorcyclists, and our bike is a Honda Shadow 1100 V twin cruiser. Our insurance Broker assisted us with our claim. No assessor came to Port Elizabeth assess the damage. The incident manager e-mailed the towing service to send Pics. Now nearly 6 weeks down the line, they phone me to tell us they will not pay for the damages as according to them this is not a valid claim. How can they assess the damage from a picture? I have spoken to Melanie Du Toit (Santam) on 20 Dec., who mentioned that the assessor, Koen Fritz will be assessing the damage. Mr Fritz never arrived. Apparently our old folkes did not read the fine lines.
