My car was vandalised in december and i called my insurance company to ask them what i need to do, they were quick to collect the car, and kept the car for almost 2 weeks as they needed to the damage. they then called me back to advise that as the damage is less than the threshold of R3800 (i reduced my excess in october to R0.00 and no one told me of this before i submitted my claim) they will not pay out for the claim and i need to fix the car, myself. they advised i need to go and collect the car (which i have no way of doing) and take it to an approved repairer.they gave me a number to call, when i called the number i was advised that the insurance company needs to send the car to them and they will have to assess the damage. i feel miss treated as i need to pay for the damages myself and even though the claim has been rejected i will still lose my no claims and i have to pay for a towing service to collect my car. what has the insurance company then done for me, absolutely nothing. you cannot penalise someone for trying to do the right thing. this is my 1st car and my 1st insurance and i am very stressed out and upset right now.
