I had an account with Ackermans. A year ago I went to Ackermans Church Str Pretoria to make a payment, the cashier told me my account has been handed to Nedbank and gave me the numbers to call. I phoned Nedbank and was given an account number to pay into and my balance was said to have been R500 and some rands I can specifically remember. I made a cash deposit of R600 at Nedbank, knowingly that it will make it up to a full settlement of the account, unfortunately I have lost the slip thereof. But a day after I phoned and the lady I spoke to confirmed receipt of my payment and I requested closure of the account to avoid monthly account fees. To my surprise, last Wednesday when I wanted to open an account somewhere I was told Nedbank has listed a default on my name. I even requested my Experian report which confirmed that. I phoned Nedbank and spoke to Jacky whom confirmed I was defaulted of R359.How possible could that be? why was I not been informed of any outstanding balance on my account? and as per our Law I was to be noticed of the default before hand. I know for the fact that I paid the account up. And want answers and my name to be cleared of the default.
