Hello Peter,
I have a credit card with nedbank and was handed over to NDS credit management with an amount of R2 850, on wednesday 17th July 2013 i paid R1500 into the account at the brooklyn branch. I was surprised when i got a message from transunion that a default was listed against my name on saturday 27th July 2013 that is 10 days after i paid R1500, When i opened my credit record i found that nedbank has listed a default with a reason of bad debt written-off with an amount of R2 850 the initial balance before i paid R1500 into the account. I went to the Brooklyn branch to understand how we can resolve the predicament and they informed me to call the legal department on 011 667 5000/ 0861116059, I called this numbers for more than 20 times each and no one answered, I have left messages and no one is calling me back. I do not know where to turn and will soon write out a letter to the ombudsman. According to my understanding i now owe nedbank R1 350 and there is no reason why they should write-off the debt and dent my name as i can pay-off that amount. Why did nedbank proceed with a default 10 days after i paid more than 50% of what i owed them.
Please assist me.
