ABSA's new internet transfer?

Transferred R1000 into my girlfriends account today, using immediate interbank payment. The payment failed, where after I selected the option to retry using normal payment. Success.

Only to find afterwards, that both payments were in fact successful.

I phoned ABSA internet banking, and the consultant informed me that either I send an email to [Email Removed] and pay their R100 reversal fee, or I can get my girlfriend to reverse the payment, where she will incur the cost of the transfer.

I'm sorry, but I'm lost somewhere between where your internet banking system failed, and where I have to pay for the failure??? For all we know, you could be doing this to 10, 000 customers a day and making a packet!!

I don't blame you for your shoddy internet service, but I do expect you to remedy your mistakes at your own cost.
