Ripped off with new contract

I am due for an upgrade for my phone at the beginning of May, and went to the Vodacom Shop in Sandton to inquire about my possibilities. Apparently going on a Saturday afternoon was a bad idea, as the person who attempted to help me was half asleep, constantly yawning throughout the conversation. Not only was she not very friendly, but also unable to help me with regards giving me information about what options I have as I was not within a week of possibly upgrading.

I resorted to taking time out of my day to drive to Vodacom World in Midrand, where I was informed that if I would like to renew my contract with my current benefits and a new phone (same brand, new model), I would have to pay twice as much per month. Even if I am willing to sign a new contract, for the same price as my current contract I would get less than half the minutes and about one seventh of the amount of data per month, where a competing company is willing to give me more minutes, more sms's and the same amount of data for LESS what I am paying now.

I have been a customer of Vodacom's since my first phone, if this is the level of service I am to expect, I am switching service providers when my contract lapse
