I have been with Vodacom since 1998, now it is time for my bi-anual upgrade, and here the problems start. I am currently on a topup 315 contract, and am looking to upgrade my phone (HTC desire HD) to a Samsung galaxy S III. Vodacom said I need to pay in an amount of R2749 to have this phone on my contract. Vodacom offers the S III on Smart S @ R389. The Contract price is not the problem, R74 more a month is not that much, but what you get is really not worth it. The Smart S package offers 75 minutes call time, 75MB of data and 150 sms. I asked them if they could reduce the amount of sms on the contrack and give me more minutes, to no avail. One of their competitors offers the same phone (except for LTE support) @ R369p/m with R200 call time, 150MB of data and only 25 sms. I really do not want to change service providers, but with the contract setup as it is at the moment I will have to move to another service provider, seeing that I am going to pay for something I do not use, as I only send about 10sms per month.
